Our activities are not only limited to the Netherlands. Being a part of the international voestalpine Railway Systems, we are also active across the border. Our wagon fleet is deployed in projects throughout Europe. We talked to our German voestalpine colleague Martin Müller, who works and lives in Germany. Martin is the contact person for the rental of our wagon fleet in Germany and the rest of Europe.
Martin has been working in this position for four years now and organizes the rental of our wagon fleet throughout Europe. This includes damage assessment and the current state of the wagons. Martin also provides services and support for the customer during the entire rental period of the fleet. “We highly value a high service quality. That is why we are available 24/7.” In addition, Martin works closely with our Business Unit Rail Transport and Material. Together, they take care of the planning, organization, and purchase orders, as well as maintenance, repair, damages, and complaints.
We highly value a high service quality. That is why we are available 24/7.
For the rental period of our wagons to the customer, all wagons are carefully examined and documented on the current state. We examine the single frame, the brakes, wheels and axles, as well as the functionality of the technique carefully. This same examination is done after the rental period. The wagons must always be returned in the exact same state as they were upon delivery. This way, we can always ensure that good functioning wagons can be deployed for the activities of each customer.
Martin is born in Germany and lives in Nordrhein-Westfalen with his wife and daughter. He is a certified Metallurgist and Motor vehicle master. Prior to this, he studied at the RAG-AG Moers to be an industrial mechanic for industrial and mechanical engineering, electro technique, welding, lathe operators, milling, PLC technique, and hydraulics. In addition, Martin also followed a two-year study for Business Economist and an additional study of Master Motor vehicles and Master electronic engineer at the HWK in Düsseldorf. Prior to working for voestalpine, Martin worked in the automobile industry for 21 years. He was responsible for 17 locations with approximately 80 employees. But he missed the challenge: “Unfortunately, I was unhappy for quite a few years in my last job. There was no challenge and no room for any career opportunities.” Within his current job, Martin feels right at home within the railway industry. “Thanks to the great collaboration with my colleagues and customers, we have already achieved so many great successes. And I have been able to improve and develop myself annually and that brings me great joy.”
