Defective rail joints can be found all over the world. Even in the United States, IRJs are often found to be the cause of malfunctions in the rail infrastructure. In line with our mission ‘connecting the world of rail’, we supported our sister company and distributor in the USA, voestalpine Railway Systems Nortrak with the sales opportunities for our Insulated Rail Joint Repair System. voestalpine Railway Systems Nortrak then offered New York Transit the solution, so that they can continue to work on a safer and reliable railway.
Our Repair System offers a remedy for these malfunctions. With our end post filler, the ‘Glued Rail Joints Repair’, the IRJ is waterproof, directly insulated, and resistant to abrasion, while simultaneously it remains flexible. Our Repair System has caught the attention from across the pond once again: this time in New York.
Back in 2019, before the coronavirus had taken over and we were still able to travel, we had a successful railway exhibition in North America, which resulted in us joining forces with voestalpine Railway Systems Nortrak. Our patience was put to the test and the entire process took quite some time. This was mainly due to not being able to conduct any follow up meetings due to the pandemic. However, the pandemic did not slow us down and we used the given time wisely. Over the course of two years, numerous tests were performed with our insulated rail joint Repair System. Although the circumstances were difficult due to restrictions of traveling in public transport and therefore causing a financial crisis, the belief in our product remained and perseverance was definitely paid off. It took up to eight months of vetting all the material through the Safety commissioner for chemical reactions. Three different test installations were set up throughout 2020 and 2021. Nonetheless, our patience was well rewarded. New York Transit noticed positive results and our Repair System has been officially approved by New York Transit. The first big shipment is already on its way!
Defects in insulated rail joints are often caused by a lipping, partly missing or damaged end post.
