Time passes by almost as quickly as the Hyperloop POD races through the tubes. Which brings us to our announcement: We are extremely proud to announce that the European Hyperloop Week of 2022 will take place on our very own premises Crailoo in Hilversum, the Netherlands!
A lot of change has taken place in these last few years. Not only the pandemic threw us all off, the collaboration with Space X (Elon Musk) also abruptly came to a complete stop. Was this the end of the Delft Hyperloop? Not exactly, because giving up is not an option for the highly motivated students. In 2021, technical universities all over Europe joined forces in order to organize the very first European Hyperloop Week (EHW). That, however, was not the only change. The implementation of the Hyperloop rather than the speed will now be judged. What would it take to actually implement this system in real life? After a successful Hyperloop week in Valencia, Spain, we are proud to organize this year’s event with the EHW team.
Just like every year, the next Delft Hyperloop team of the Technical University in Delft, the Netherlands, has already been assembled. Delft Hyperloop VI will take part in this year’s competition. And just as quickly, the EHW organizational team of the Hyperloop was assembled. Dean Amrane is this year’s Head of Logistics and Acquisition. His main task is organizing the entire event and with that also the overview of all partner- and sponsorships.
I look very much forward to see the prototypes the best student teams around the world have been working on. I expect that the EHW will be able to familiarize the Hyperloop concept to a broader target group. And that our ecosystem consisting of student teams, companies, and institutions will serve as a breeding ground for new, innovative ideas. The EHW is quite an experience and I hope that this event will go down in history and be remembered for decennia to come.
Part of Dean’s team are Ward Dijkman, Technical Board, rules & regulations, Floris van Rooij, Acquisition Manager, and Niels van Staaveren as Logistics Manager. Then there is the board of the foundation, consisting of four representatives from the organizing teams: Stella Antonogiannaki from Edinburgh, Scotland, María Cuesta from Valencia, Spain, Siddharth Nair from Delft, the Netherlands, and Yvan Bosshard from Zürich, Switzerland. Their main focus, apart from all the practical issues regarding the event, lies with the competition (technical jury, rules & regulations, and safety measures), and marketing.
Together with approximately 700 other students, they hope to make the EHW 2022 a great success. And this is yet again a wonderful collaboration with ProRail, Strukton Rail and NS Travelers.
A lot still needs to be organized and we will update you frequently. One thing is certain: the European Hyperloop Week 2022 will take place on Saturday, July 23 on our premises Crailoo in Hilversum, the Netherlands!
